  133. I use Artpro for doing all thart sort of thing.  Its a great little
  134. program 
  135. (which I really must register...) that will either expand/shrink it by
  136. percentage
  137. or allow you to input the pixel size manually. should be available on
  138. aminet or 
  139. the cds somewhere.
  140.  
  141. Its also good for view pictures on the fly when you dont have enough
  142. memory.  
  143. The program itself uses very little memory, you can choose the amount
  144. of colours
  145. and display mode and it loads in all of 5 seconds!

  212. planned, one for each module as well.

  286. The 3.1 ROMS do, that's the A500/600/2000 series one (40.63 iirc). 
  287. There were three kickstarts in A600s:
  288.  
  289.  37.299 - Kickstart 2.04 more commonly known as 37.175
  290.  37.300 - IDE Support 2.04 /2.05 release
  291.  37.350 - Only with 2.1 based A600s
  292.  
  293. Why would you loose 512K RAM??  The 2.x ROMs are 512Kb and the 3.x ROMs
  294. are 512kb (apart from CD32 3.1); the 1.x ROMs are 256Kb.

  315. I've bought a second hand A4000, which is nice, but DF0 is a DD drive not
  316. HD, does anybody know where I can get a HD DF0. I have tried Micronik, but
  317. after an initial "ya we can get one" I have just received a mail saying they
  318. are no longer in the Amiga market, and wouldn't be getting any more after
  319. all.

  962. I guess the DD drive is the normal half height drive, unlike most A4Ks
  963. Full height jobbies.  I'm not sure if Power Computing's HD drive is
  964. half height or not.  IIRC; the Power drives aren't actually half speed
  965. HD drives like Commodore's Chinnon drives; but standard PC HD floppy
  966. drives with buffering electonics so slow the flow of data to half speed
  967. which Paula can handle.
  968.  
  969. IMHO =A365 is very expensive and you'd be well advised to place an advert
  970. on Amibench (http://www.amibench.org) looking for one; either the
  971. taller or smaller types.  Note the former are easier to get hold of and
  972. much cheaper.  I replaced my dead HD tall drive for =A312.  :)  Keep your
  973. eyes peeled; otherwise take up Power's offer.  Have you also thought
  974. about a Catweazel Zorro?  That's =A345 apx. and a HD PC drive is about =A35
  975. from a lot of places! :)  And it runs at full speed unlike the slower
  976. HD access via Power's buffered and the HAlf speed Chinnon drives.

  1210. as I have said; I have tossed this salvaged junk in my filing cabinet

  1213. hard disk left from a 170Mb hard disk, not that handy eh! :)   My guess
  1214. is that this hard disk had a few hard disk crashes; all it takes is a
  1215. smoke particle to get on the platter and destroy it.  Or of course a
  1216. drop or somthing! :)

  1231. As for the A600 - I have found it impossible to close the case down
  1232. again; even with the top shielding removed!  :)  Besides, the 030/40
  1233. I'm getting for it this week or next at latest, will most certainly put

  1235. floppy drive case into a 3.5" hard disk housing; until i buy a proper
  1236. job one from Eyetech.  A spot of welding to encase it properly did the
  1237. job well! :)  For now... :)

  1413. Ahh sorry, didn't realise he was soft kicking 3.1.  That's given me a
  1414. very good idea; i could copy my A500Plus's 3.1 ROM image and softkick
  1415. from that as well, giving my 2.1 based A600 3.1 :).  The only clause
  1416. afaik, 3.5 needs the physical 3.1 ROM; not a kicked image...

  1518. the supplied utils and OctaMED SS, but I can't get it
  1519. to work with AHI.  The supplied AmigaAMP doesn't play
  1520. anything, and SongPlayer either does nothing (with the
  1521. AHI from AF) or makes strange, distorted noises (with
  1522. the AHI from the Prelude CD).

  1604. You can't just plug it into a standard Amiga parallel port. You either need
  1605. an EPP one (e.g., IOBlix), Blittersoft's adapter thingie, or a DIY adapter
  1606. (see http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/aminet/dirs/aminet/hard/hack/ppazip.lha).

  1608. Either of these options comes with the necessary drive software.

  1840. because of a supplier not getting products to Ben in time for a review. That
  1841. combined with Future's wanting to save costs is why AF is smaller, although
  1842. the editorial content is said to be the same. [I say "said to be" because my
  1843. AF hasn't come yet, probably won't for another week.] Since the shrinkage
  1844. has resulted in an unbindable cover, it's now stapled. To cut costs further,
  1845. the CD is [thankfully, in my opinion] no longer in a jewel case.

  1867. I think a great bet for a sequencer would be OctaMED. You may be able to
  1868. find early versions available for free, but even the latest commercial
  1869. version is [in my opinion] dirt cheap. It's a great music program; I use it
  1870. on my A4000 and Yamaha PSR-230.

  2583. The base icon for drawing lots of the glowicons used in 3.5 was a Final
  2584. Writer one. If you're getting it then you either don't have show colour
  2585. icons turned on in Workbench prefs, or you can't because you haven't got
  2586. your Kickstart patched to 3.5...

  2886. snapshot and so on under OS3.5, so if you're using a mixture of 3.5 and 3.1

  3040. Probably. Grab RDPrep, read the RDB from the slow drive and save it out as
  3041. a mountlist. Then try mounting the drive from that.

  3741. Yes, but if you call it an 070, then exec's tags are going to have a sligtly
  3742. strange value (come to think of it, I don't think you could actually put
  3743. 070 in there, I think the PPC cards took up the last space) and any program
  3744. that checks for a specific processor (eg. 060) isn't going to work.
